Escrow & Refund Policy

Last Updated: June 19, 2026

Split Stash holds every seat payment in a temporary escrow buffer. Funds are released to the host only after you verify working access. This removes the risk of upfront payment scams entirely.

1. How Escrow Works on Split Stash

In traditional informal sharing (e.g., through Facebook or WhatsApp groups), members must pay hosts several months in advance with no security, leading to exit scams. On Split Stash, you pay for your seat month-to-month, and the payment is held securely by the platform first.

The Step-by-Step Flow:

  1. STEP 01 // Member submits payment via Easypaisa or JazzCash using the system-generated reference code.
  2. STEP 02 // Admin verifies payment matching, activates the seat, and locks the funds in the escrow buffer.
  3. STEP 03 // The 72-Hour Review Timer begins immediately. The Host provides access details.
  4. STEP 04 // Member confirms access is functional, OR the 72-hour window expires without active dispute filings.
  5. STEP 05 //Funds release to the Host's settlement ledger, minus the flat coordination fee.

2. The 72-Hour Review Window

The 72-hour window is your safety shield. As a Member, you must use this time to test your profile access, verify credentials, and check that the subscription tier matches what was advertised (e.g., 4K resolution, ad-free streaming, premium API access, etc.).

If you encounter any access errors during this period, you must immediately file a dispute via the platform. Filing a dispute pauses the escrow timer, keeping the funds locked until the administrator reviews the case.

3. Refund Eligibility Criteria

To keep the system fair, refunds are processed strictly based on verified evidence reviewed manually by administrators during our MVP stage.

✓ Qualifies for a Refund:

  • Host fails to provide login credentials within the startup window.
  • Credentials provided are invalid (e.g., wrong password, expired license).
  • The plan configuration is incorrect (e.g., listed as Claude Pro but acts as a Free plan).
  • Host changes account credentials or revokes the profile access mid-cycle.

✗ Does NOT Qualify:

  • Member changes their mind after access has been successfully provided.
  • Member does not use the subscription during the billing cycle.
  • Service provider experiences brief technical downtime (beyond host control).
  • Member violates host rules (e.g., sharing credentials, using multiple profiles).

4. Host Payout Release & Restrictions

For hosts, payouts are computed dynamically on your ledger and settled manually during the MVP. Payouts are released into your registered Easypaisa, JazzCash, or bank account once the escrow buffer clears.

To protect members against delayed or “exit” scams:

  • New Hosts (with less than 3 active cycles or a Trust Score below 4.5) may face an additional payout clearance hold of up to 48 hours.
  • Hosts carrying active disputes are blocked from initiating payouts until all pending claims are resolved.

5. Admin Arbitration Authority

During the MVP stage, a single Super Administrator reviews all escrow disputes manually. Both hosts and members agree that the administrator's decision is final and binding on all financial adjustments, balances, and refund payouts.

Decisions are made based on objective evidence (such as message logs in the structured support channel and credential verifications). If a host is found to have acted dishonestly, funds are immediately returned to the member, the host's trust score is adjusted, and their withdrawal options are restricted.
